This 5-day afternoon camp is built around one of the most meaningful things you can do in a kitchen — cook a real meal for the people you love. Each day, students prepare a complete family dinner from scratch to take home and share that evening. It's hands-on, it's purposeful, and the results end up on actual dinner tables.
Recipes are chosen to build confidence with real cooking techniques to prepare meats, make soup, salads and veggie sides, and bake from scratch. Students will develop skills in kitchen safety, knife work, stove and oven use, timing multiple dishes at once, recipe reading, and cleanup.
Wednesday is our Feeding South Dakota service project day — a built-in reminder that cooking is also a way to take care of your community.
Throughout the week, students will work through a rotating menu of scratch-made family favorites including roast chicken, lasagna, homemade pasta, chicken noodle soup with handmade egg noodles, fresh-baked biscuits, and more.
Menus will be emailed the week prior to camp.
